Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max unveiled with 1-inch modular camera and 12,000 nit display
Huawei has unveiled its latest Mate 90 series smartphones in China, including the Mate 90 RS and the flagship Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max. The Pro Max features a large 6.9-inch display, a triple rear camera, and a unique 1-inch module camera system. The 50MP main camera is based on a 1/1.28-inch RYYB sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a continuously variable aperture from f/1.4 to f/4.0.
The Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max also features a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with a 1/1.28-inch RYYB sensor, optical image stabilization (OIS), and 4x optical zoom. The smartphone also boasts a 40-megapixel ultrawide camera and a third-generation maple red color sensor. For selfies, there’s a 13-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 3D depth sensor.
Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max Collector’s Edition with external 1-inch camera module
Huawei also sells a Mate 90 Pro Max Collector’s Edition, which, like the Mate 90 RS, supports the company’s Ruiying Z10 external camera module. This module features its own 1-inch RYYB sensor and offers 10x continuous optical zoom. The focal length range is 24–240 mm, and the aperture range is f/2.0 to f/4.5.
The Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max features a 6.9-inch dual-layer LTPO OLED display that supports a 120Hz refresh rate and offers a peak brightness of 12,000 nits.
It is powered by the Kirin 9050 Pro chipset and runs on HarmonyOS 7. Of particular note is that the models with 12 GB of RAM use a Kirin 9050.
Huawei has equipped the device with a 6,800 mAh battery that supports 100W wired fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging. The smartphone also features Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, StarLight E2.0, NFC, eSIM, and is IP69 water-resistant.
The Mate 90 Pro Max is available in Crystal White, Emerald Green, Obsidian Black, and Rose Gold. The Collector’s Edition, however, is only available in Emerald Green.
Prices
Prices start at 9,499 CNY (1,258 EUR/1,420 USD) for the 12 GB RAM/512 GB storage variant, while the 16 GB RAM/512 GB storage model costs 9,999 CNY (1,325 EUR/1,490 USD). The Collector’s Edition is available for 10,999 CNY (1,457 EUR/1,640 USD) with 16 GB RAM/512 GB storage, and for 12,999 CNY (1,722 EUR/1,940 USD) with 16 GB RAM/1 TB storage.
The Collector’s Edition Pro Camera Kit, including mobile phone, modular Z10 camera and other accessories, costs 19,499 CNY (2,583 Euro/2,910 US Dollar).
