Apple iPad Mini 8 gets these 10 new features

Last week, an exclusive leak revealed that the upcoming Apple iPad mini 8 will be equipped with Apple’s latest A20 Pro chip, a landscape-oriented front camera, and a redesigned speaker system. But that’s not all, as there are rumors of numerous other improvements.

10 new Apple iPad mini 8 features and changes
- Apple’s latest A20 Pro chip is manufactured using TSMC’s advanced 2nm process. It offers up to 1.5 times the CPU performance and up to 2.5 times the GPU performance compared to the A17 Pro chip in the current iPad mini. The A20 Pro also features a dual 16-core Neural Engine with a total of 32 cores.
- With the A20 Pro chip, the upcoming iPad mini 8 will have 12 GB of RAM, compared to 8 GB in the current model. This will allow the device to individually adjust the speed and expressiveness of Siri’s AI voice.
- OLED display with overall better image quality compared to the current LCD model thanks to richer colors and a higher contrast ratio with true black.
- Narrower display bezels compared to the current model.
- The front camera is arranged in landscape orientation, which means that when the device is held upright, the camera is located in the right frame rather than the top frame.
- Apple’s custom-designed N1 chip with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 support.
- Apple’s specially designed C1X or C2 modem for cellular configurations.
- A redesigned speaker system without speaker holes and possibly with an iPhone-like speaker in the top frame.
- For the first time with IP-certified waterproofing.
Apple is expected to unveil the iPad mini 8 later this year, with sales most likely starting in October. The current iPad mini starts at €679/$599, following a $100 price increase in June. Apple cited the sharp rise in RAM and memory chip costs as the reason for the increase. Due to the more expensive OLED display, the successor model is likely to see another significant price hike.
