iQOO 15: Geekbench test and video with color-changing back
Vivo’s upcoming iQOO 15 apparently underwent a Geekbench test just a few hours ago and broke several records. The prototype achieved a single-core score of 3,824 and a multi-core score of 12,402 points while powered by the SoC, thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.
The phone used for the benchmark had 16GB of RAM, although other options may be available at launch. It was running Android 16, which gives us a good indication that the iQOO 15 will launch with that version.
As announced yesterday, the phone will feature an LED light strip around the camera bezel. It is also expected to feature an extremely high-quality Samsung display with QHD+ resolution. On the back, it will reportedly feature three 50MP cameras, including a periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 7,000mAh battery.
According to a new leak, the iQOO 15 will also feature a self-developed chip called the Q3, which will enable full-scene ray tracing in Genshin Impact for the first time (reportedly, not even Apple has done this). iQOO will reveal more details about this chip on September 23.
iQOO 15 video shows color-changing back
The iQOO 15 was also photographed in the wild. The photo showed that the back is painted with a kind of pinkish-gray swirl. It turns out a still image doesn’t do the phone’s color justice—here’s a video.
We’ve seen color-changing backs before, but this one is probably the fastest and most dramatic change yet. It changes from a pure gray to this pinkish hue depending on the viewing angle.
There are no official details yet, but rumors suggest the phone will feature a flat 6.85-inch QHD OLED display, a Samsung panel with a maximum brightness of 6,000 nits and a minimum of 1 nit. We also expect a high refresh rate and an ultrasonic fingerprint reader.
The cameras will feature a 50MP main camera with a 1/1.5-inch sensor and a 50MP telephoto camera with a periscope lens, suggesting a longer focal length (the iQOO 13 had a 2x lens). There should also be an ultrawide-angle camera, and we wouldn’t be surprised if this too were a 50MP unit (like in previous generations).
Vivo’s new OriginOS 6 will reportedly debut with the iQOO 15. The phone will feature a massive battery (capacity between 7,000 and 8,000 mAh) with 100W fast charging.
On September 23, Qualcomm will also officially unveil its new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset—that can’t be a coincidence. The full market launch of the iQOO 15 will take place later, most likely in the next few weeks.
