vivo OriginOS 6 is about to launch worldwide
Five years ago, vivo introduced OriginOS, its next-generation operating system designed to replace FuntouchOS—and it did. Also, but only in China. So far. OriginOS 6, based on Android 16, is about to launch globally.

The new operating system version will be introduced with the vivo X300 and X300 Pro, but we don’t yet have details on when the global launch will take place. Other models that are expected to receive OriginOS 6 are the vivo X Fold5, the vivo X200 series, the iQOO 13 and the iQOO Neo10 series. This will begin next month and extend until 2026, as the company will continue to update older models over time.
Dedicated Smooth Engine
The new version offers a buttery smooth experience. It accelerates app launch times and data loading while improving frame rate stability. It features a brand-new animation engine with various animation styles that perfectly match the new user interface design language.
New design and a new font
Speaking of design: The new Origin design system aims to unify visual elements on the screen. Transparency and blur are key elements, and there’s a new, bespoke typeface. Vivo Sans supports over 40 languages and features fully customizable font weights for improved readability.

Origin Island is integrated with a new Android 16 feature called “Live Updates.” It can remain visible at the top of the screen and provides instant access to context-relevant actions. For example, “Copy & Go” copies a phone number and allows you to call or message that number directly, while “Drag & Go” lets you make quick edits to an image without leaving the app you’re currently using.
vivo’s AI also plays a key role in the new user interface. vivo worked closely with Google to integrate the Gemini chatbot and the Circle-to-Search feature.
vivo will launch OriginOS 6 in November. You can find a detailed schedule here. Note that this is happening gradually—meaning some markets will get it sooner than others.
