Samsung Galaxy A55 with Android 16 in Geekbench test

The latest version of Samsung’s own Android interface, One UI 8, is already based on Android 16 and is currently available for the Galaxy S25 series, including the Galaxy S25 Edge in selected markets via the beta program. It will take some time before older, cheaper Galaxy devices benefit from this. One of the smartphones suitable for One UI 8 is the Samsung Galaxy A55.


Because this exact model, a Samsung Galaxy A55 with the model code SM-A556E, was just tested in a benchmark test on the The Geekbench testing platform discovered Android 16. Performance was in line with expectations for the Exynos 1480 chipset under the hood—1,170 single-core points and 3,417 multi-core points were achieved in the test.
This suggests that Samsung has already begun work on One UI 8 for this smartphone. The stable version could be ready by the end of 2025.
We expect Samsung to launch the One UI 8 beta program for the Galaxy A55 in the next few months and release the stable version before 2026. Until then, you’ll need to use your Samsung Galaxy A55 with One UI 7 based on Android 15.
