Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7: Snapdragon 8 Elite test and One UI 8
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, as confirmed by a recently published Geekbench entry. The foldable device with model number SM-F966N was benchmarked. Two main cores with 4.47 GHz were identified, confirming the overclocked Snapdragon for Galaxy chip.
The tested Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 is obviously still in development and is not the final product. Both the single-core results of 2,617 points and the multi-core score of 9,369 points are lower than those of the Galaxy S25 series, which are all equipped with the same Snapdragon 8 Elite chip.
The N at the end of the model code indicates that this is the Korean version of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7. Samsung will present some drastic improvements compared to the Galaxy Z Fold6. These include a significantly slimmer profile, a better under-display camera beneath the foldable panel, improved water and dust resistance, and even improved speakers.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7, Z Flip7, and Z Flip7 FE with One UI 8
It’s official – One UI 8 will be coming with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7, Z Flip7 and Z Flip7 FE were introduced. However, the first open beta is already available today for owners of the Samsung Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra, provided they live in the US, UK, Germany, or South Korea.
Samsung says that due to its close collaboration with Google, One UI 8 will be one of the first platforms to adopt Android 16. Samsung’s new foldable devices will be released “this summer,” likely in July, but there is no official date yet. Next will be the beta for the S25 series, followed by older Galaxy devices.
One UI 8 builds on the AI features introduced with the Galaxy S25 series. They combine on-device and cloud processing. However, One UI 8 offers a setting that allows you to limit your data to on-device processing only. The AI will be multimodal, meaning it will understand more than just text and will use what you’re looking at as context to adjust its response. The new “Now Bar” and “New Brief” features are even more personalized.
Fortunately, One UI 8 isn’t all about AI. It also turns your smartphone into an Auracast transmitter—a Bluetooth audio technology that works without pairing with compatible headphones. This means you and several of your friends can easily listen to the same audio stream.
The Quick Share app simplifies sending and receiving files – just tap “Quick Share” in the quick settings and you can exchange files with people nearby. The Reminders app is ideal for on the go. It manages your checklists and appointments and supports voice input for easy additions. You can share these checklists with your travel companions.
Samsung is working to make the repair and maintenance of Galaxy devices less stressful. With One UI 8, you can log in to the service center using a QR code or NFC – eliminating the hassle of filling out registration forms. All relevant data is stored in your Samsung account.
