Oppo Find N5: First test, but no sale in Europe
The Oppo Find N5 is the thinnest foldable device on the market yet, measuring just 8.93mm when closed. But performance hasn’t suffered at all. The company has released a series of promotional videos demonstrating the features and explaining how Oppo managed to build such a thin and sturdy phone.
The latest video shows off some AI features, including AI summary for documents and AI call summary. Additionally, the Oppo Find N5 also supports a stylus on the main foldable display.
The next video is a quick overview of the Oppo Find N5 with the key specifications. These include the thickness (4.21mm when opened), the weight (229g), the size of the inner display (8.12 inches), the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, the phone’s IPX9 water resistance, and 80W charging for the rather large 5,600mAh battery.
Oppo used a mix of advanced materials such as 7-series aluminum alloys and aluminum matrix composites, as well as carbon fiber for the mid-plate and a titanium alloy for the hinge. The motherboard has been tightly packed to make more room for the battery, while the flat internal structure minimizes creases.
Oppo Find N5 not coming to Europe
And now the bad news. Since the Oppo Find N5’s global launch event last week, we’ve been hoping for an international launch. There will be one, but Europe is not part of those plans.
Oppo released an official statement canceling all plans for a European launch of the Find N5. The reason is “in-depth market research and strategic priorities.” Instead, the Oppo Reno13 series is going global – seriously, Oppo?
“At OPPO, we carefully tailor our product launches to each region based on in-depth market research and strategic priorities. The Find N5 will not be launched in Europe. Instead, we will launch the Reno13 series across Europe in the first quarter of 2025 on February 24, offering consumers more choice with cutting-edge AI features and stylish, trendy designs. Stay tuned for updates.”
The Oppo Find N5 will not land in the USA either, as the Chinese do not officially sell their products there. And sister company OnePlus will not be releasing an Open 2 either, after the first Open was based on the Oppo Find N3. This leaves China, Singapore and other markets in Asia as the only places where you can officially buy the Find N5.
