Samsung Galaxy S24 FE teardown allegedly shows larger vapor chamber
Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S24 FE last week. The 2024 model features a larger display (6.7 vs. 6.4 inches), the new Exynos 2400e chipset, and a 10% larger vapor chamber. The battery has also grown from 4,500 mAh to 4,700 mAh. In a new teardown video from PBKreviews, you can now see some of these components live and in color.
With the glass back removed, the layout of the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is very similar to its predecessor, the Galaxy S23 FE. A heat sink on the motherboard hides one of the biggest changes of this generation – the new Exynos 2400e chipset, which replaces the Exynos 2200 / Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. A graphite sheet and some thermal paste help dissipate the heat.
After removing more components, PBKreviews can dismantle the new battery. It has a typical capacity of 4,700 mAh or 17.72 Wh. Once the cell is removed along with the pull tabs that hold it in place, we can finally see the vapor chamber. This is “1.1x larger,” or in other words, has grown by a clear 10%. In the end, the new Samsung Galaxy S24 FE manages a good repairability rating of 8.5/10 points. That’s exactly the same as the S23 FE. Major plus points are the easy replacement of the display and the good supply of spare parts. There were minor concerns about the overall design, however. Samsung also guarantees the availability of components and software updates for seven years. While the S24 series is not yet part of the self-repair service program, this usually happens once the devices turn one year old.
