The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+ and the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra apparently rely on the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ chip, and they will launch in October.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 series is apparently getting a new chipset strategy. Instead of relying on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon processor like every year, Samsung seems to be switching to the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ chip for both tablets this year. You should pay attention to the small print – both tablets mean Plus and Ultra. There is apparently no longer a basic model, as the small Galaxy Tab S10 is supposedly being removed from the portfolio.

A Geekbench test with the Dimensity 9300+ chip is already known for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+ with the model code SM-X828U. Now it was the turn of the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra (SM-X926B), for which Geekbench also lists “gts10u” as the motherboard. This means that the currently fastest 8-core CPU from MediaTek, which only consists of large cores, is also waiting here. In addition to four Cortex-X4 main cores (1 x 3.4 GHz, 3 x 2.85 GHz), there are four Cortex-A720 cores at 2.0 GHz. The GPU is an Immortalis G720.

The Dimensity 9300+ also has Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity. The Samsung tablets will have optional 5G connectivity (the chip’s 5G modem supports both sub-6GHz and mmWave).

The last interesting point in the Geekbench test is the RAM of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. It is 12 GB, just like the Galaxy Tab S9, Tab S9+ and Tab S9 Ultra. However, there should also be a version of the Ultra with 16 GB RAM. But this will probably only come to some regions. In addition, there are only certain memory configurations for this. The Tab S9 Ultra with 16 GB RAM was only available with 1 TB of memory.

The Dimensity 9300+ should run a little faster than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy chip. Despite their later launch, the Tab S10 tablets will probably not yet benefit from the brand new Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. The MediaTek chip is also probably cheaper than Qualcomm’s, which would be a win-win situation for Samsung.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Plus and S10 Ultra: launch date in October

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 series could actually have made its debut at the Unpacked event earlier this month together with the Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Z Flip6, Watch7, Watch Ultra and dem Galaxy Ring. Instead, rumors emerged last week that the tablets would be launched in October. Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants has now confirmed this rumor. According to him, production of the Tab S10 models will begin in August. That would fit with a market launch in October.

According to Young, the color options are gray and silver. Young also only mentions a Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+ and the Tab S10 Ultra – no standard model anywhere.
