Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra shines in durability test
A new Samsung Galaxy phone is on the market, and you know what that means: It’s time for JerryRigEverything’s Zack Nelson to destroy it. The YouTuber subjected the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, which was introduced exactly two weeks ago, to his classic durability test.
Most of you reading this are already familiar with ZacK Nelson’s popular durability tests. For those new to the subject, he tests the durability of cell phones by holding their screens up to a lighter, scratching them with knives, treating their frames and backs with a razor blade, and finally bending them to see if they break in half.
Samsung cell phones have survived these tests well in the past without suffering any major damage. The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is no exception in this regard, as you can already see from the scratch test. Most cell phones scratch at a hardness level of six or higher, with deeper grooves starting at level seven. However, the S24 Ultra uses the brand new Gorilla Glass Armor, which should be much more scratch-resistant than Gorilla Glass Invictus. The advertising seems to be correct in this case. From level six onwards, scratches can be seen but cannot be felt. Noticeable damage only occurs from level eight onwards, as can be seen under a microscope.
Then comes the fire test, in which the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra withstands an open flame for around 30 seconds. That’s a pretty good value, but after that the pixels become permanently white with no chance of recovery. Finally it’s time for the infamous bending test, in which the Ultra performs excellently. Despite strong pressure from both sides, there is hardly any reaction.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra is currently the smartest and most feature-rich Galaxy phone with a variety of AI functions. It also has one of the most powerful camera setups on the market.
