Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: durability test and teardown
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is the latest smartphone that had to withstand various drops and scratches in the durability test by PBKreviews. As usual, the Galaxy smartphone was dropped multiple times from waist height to the front, sides and back. The first fall resulted in minor scratches on the frame and a small crack in the top right corner of the display. The back, however, survived the fall without any noticeable damage.
The new titanium frame also survived an intimate encounter with a drill. The 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display features Gorilla Glass Armor protection, which was apparently a good decision by Samsung. The Galaxy S24 Ultra showed no stains or scratches after harsh contact with a mixture of dust and gravel.
After the drop and scratch tests, PBKreviews disassembled the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra to give us the first glimpse into the inner workings of one of the best smartphones of 2024 so far. The notable components included pull tabs for the battery and a larger vapor chamber. The latter should ensure improved heat management compared to last year’s model.
PBKreviews tested the US version. That’s why the Galaxy S24 Ultra also has 5G mmWave antennas on the frame in the video, which you can at the 6:15 minute mark. Overall, the repairability rating was 9/10, just like the previous Galaxy S23 Ultra.
