Even though the Samsung Exynos 2400 has to give way to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in synthetic benchmark tests, the two chipsets seem to be on par in real gaming scenarios. NL Tech pitted the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 against the Galaxy S24+ with the Exynos 2400 in several popular Android games.

The results are, to put it mildly, quite surprising. The two Samsung phones performed similarly in Genshin Impact, PUBG Mobile, Mobile Legends and Fortnite. In Gehnshin, the two chips maintained around 60 fps, in PUBG Mobile it was 90 fps with Smooth graphics settings. Fortnite also settled at a stable frame rate of around 90 fps, but sometimes dropped to 70 fps during combat.

NL Tech only observed a significant difference in two games – Call of Duty: Mobile and War Thunder. In the first case, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 managed 120 fps throughout the game, while the Exynos 2400 stalled at 60 fps for some reason. However, the Exynos 2400 clearly outperformed the SD 8 Gen 3 in War Thunder with around 100 fps compared to 40 fps for the Snapdragon. However, War Thunder is a ray tracing capable game – perhaps the Samsung Galaxy S24+’s Xclipse 940 GPU can handle ray tracing graphics better.

But it’s important to point out a few things here. Firstly, the tests were carried out on pre-production devices and secondly, these are two different smartphones. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra reportedly has a better cooling solution with a larger heatsink. Other factors could also play a role here. It would be interesting to see how a Galaxy S24+ with Exynos performs in the test against the Snapdragon variant.
