Poco X8 is coming after all – HyperOS source code proves its existence
The Poco X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max were both announced in March, but after a few months, many suspected that the standard Poco X8 model might have been discontinued. No one had an explanation, but we all assumed that Xiaomi simply hadn’t released the base X8. Until now.
X user Kacper Skryzpek has found clear evidence of the X8’s existence in the source code of Xiaomi’s HyperOS. It is said to feature a 50MP main camera and a 2MP depth sensor. If this sounds familiar, it’s likely a rebranded Chinese Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G. The latter was recently unveiled alongside the regular Redmi Note 17.
Poco X8 with 9,000 mAh battery
If this theory proves correct, the Poco X8 is likely to be equipped with a massive 9,000 mAh battery, just like the Redmi Note 17 Pro. However, EU regulations make it difficult to import large single-cell batteries, so we might see a reduced capacity for the EU market. Nevertheless, the Poco phone is expected to receive a significant upgrade over its predecessor worldwide.
The report also suggests that the global Redmi Note 17 Pro will be equipped with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera on the back.
