Poco X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max with large Si/C batteries and Dimensity chips are here

Last year, the Poco X7 and X7 Pro were very popular with users looking for an affordable yet powerful smartphone. This year, the series is being expanded with a new model: the Poco X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max. The larger Max model features a particularly powerful battery and a flagship-class chipset.

Poco X8 Pro Max

The Poco X8 Pro Max is the largest model in the X series to date, featuring a 6.83-inch OLED display – a 1280 x 2772 pixel panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate, 12-bit color depth, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision support. It reaches 2000 nits in High Brightness (HBM) mode and a peak brightness of 3500 nits (25% APL). Brightness is controlled via 3840 Hz PWM dimming. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i.

The new, larger display offers two advantages: an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and a particularly powerful battery. Fittingly, the Max features an 8,500 mAh Si/C battery – the largest in Poco’s history. It supports 100-watt HyperCharge/PPS and 27-watt reverse charging. With the appropriate power adapter, the smartphone reaches 50% charge in just 24 minutes.

The smartphone is 8.2 mm thick and weighs 218 g. The global model is IP69K certified, but in some regions only IP68. Regardless, the smartphone features a metal frame and a fiberglass back.

Additionally, it features dynamic RGB lighting that can illuminate in eight colors and indicate charging status, notifications, camera activity, or simply flash to the beat of the music. Speaking of music: The smartphone has two symmetrical 1115F speakers with Hi-Res Audio and Dolby Atmos.

The Poco X8 Pro Max is the first model in the X series with a high-end chipset, the Dimensity 9500s. It’s a 3nm chip with powerful cores (1x Cortex-X925 Ultra at 3.73 GHz + 3x Cortex-X4 + 4x Cortex-A720) and an Immortalis G925 GPU. Essentially, it’s an improved version of last year’s Dimensity 9400+.

Poco states that popular games like Honkai: Star Rail and Genshin Impact can be played at 120 frames per second thanks to Super Resolution technology. The chipset is cooled by the Poco 3D IceLoop system with a 5,800 mm² vapor chamber. The smartphone features up to 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM (9,600 Mbit/s) and up to 512 GB of UFS 4.1 storage.

Poco X8 Pro

The Poco X8 Pro features a 6.59-inch display—smaller than the Max’s and even slightly smaller than the 6.67-inch diagonal screen found in almost all previous X-series models. It’s a 12-bit panel with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a resolution of 1268 x 2756 pixels. Like the larger Max display, this one also achieves 2,000 nits in HBM mode and a peak brightness of 3,500 nits (25% APL) with 3840Hz PWM dimming. Note that this model also uses an optical fingerprint reader.

The smartphone features a metal frame and Gorilla Glass 7i on the front. It is 8.38 mm thick and weighs 201 g. The back is equipped with the same dynamic RGB lighting. Like the Pro Max, the Pro is also IP69K certified (except in some regions where IP68 protection applies).

Although the Si/C battery is smaller, at 6,500 mAh it still offers more capacity than the batteries in flagship smartphones. It supports the same 100-watt charging (both HyperCharge and PPS) and reaches 100% in 48 minutes. You can also use the smartphone to charge other devices at 27 watts.

The X8 Pro is powered by the Dimensity 8500 Ultra, a 4nm chip with eight Cortex-A725 cores and a Mali-G720 GPU. It features a 5,300 mm² 3D dual-layer IceLoop cooling system. The chipset supports up to 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512 GB of UFS 4.1 storage.

The X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max use different sensors in their main cameras: the IMX882 and the Light Fusion 600, respectively. The difference only becomes apparent in a direct comparison. Both sensors are 1/1.95 inches in size, have 0.8 µm pixels, and feature optical image stabilization (OIS) and a large f/1.5 aperture. The second rear camera is an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle module (f/2.2), while the selfie cameras have 20-megapixel sensors.

Like the Max, the Poco X8 Pro also features two speakers with Hi-Res Audio and Dolby Atmos. Both Poco smartphones support Wi-Fi 6 (ax), Bluetooth 6.0, NFC and Xiaomi Offline Communication.

The Poco X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max will be available soon. Worldwide prices can be found in the table below – for a limited time, both models are available at an early bird price.

For comparison: Last year, the early bird offer for the X7 Pro was $280 for an 8/256GB model.

Poco X8 Pro Iron Man Edition

There is also a special Poco X8 Pro Iron Man Edition – a 12-inch smartphone with 512 GB of storage that costs $400 (even during the Early Bird period).

It has a black case with gold accents and matching UI designs.

The custom-designed retail packaging includes a special case, a SIM card eject tool with the Marvel logo, and a red USB-A to USB-C cable.
