An upcoming Google Pixel smartphone with the model number GH2MB has undergone UL demo certification. It is not yet clear which model this is. Google is preparing the launch of the Pixel 8a, the Pixel 9 series and the Pixel Fold 2. The Pixel 8a’s sales packaging recently appeared on the Internet, revealing part of the design. We have also already seen various renderings of the Google Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro. And the Pixel Fold 2 has already come out of hiding too.

The UL Demko certification of the upcoming Google Pixel smartphone confirms that the device bears the model number GH2MB. It also revealed the battery capacity of 4,942 mAh, which Google will probably market as 5,000 mAh or 5,040 mAh. The certification suggests that the launch is imminent. The Pixel 7a was offered in some regions with a similar model number called GHL1X. Therefore, the model number GH2MB revealed by UL Demko could point to the Google Pixel 8a.

The 4,942 mAh battery is significantly larger than the 4,385 mAh cell of the Pixel 7a and the 4,410 mAh of the Pixel 6a. It is therefore rather unlikely that this is a Pixel 8A. It could be the Pixel 9 Pro – the Pixel 8 Pro has a 5,050 mAh battery, which would be a pretty good fit. The Pixel 8 only comes in at 4,575 mAh.

But there’s also the possibility that the GH2MB will be the upcoming Google Pixel Fold 2. The original Google Pixel Fold has a capacity of 4,821 mAh on board, so the successor would get a slight upgrade. The next certifications should shed more light on this soon.
