Apple Vision Pro M5 headset in the video test
he Apple Vision Pro M5 headset recently received a significant performance boost thanks to the new chipset. The design remains unchanged, but a new dual-knit headband has been introduced, which is intended to be more comfortable. MacRumors editor Dan Barbera has already tested one of the new Vision Pro headsets to compare it to the previous models with the M2 chip.
The operating system visionOS 26 remains unchanged, but the M5 chip delivers a noticeable performance improvement. Creating a persona, generating 3D photos, and using multiple apps simultaneously are significantly faster.
The Apple Vision Pro M5’s Micro-OLED displays, however, remain unchanged. The M5 processor can display 10% more pixels and supports a 120Hz refresh rate, resulting in a smoother image than before. Mac Virtual Display, where the Vision Pro serves as the screen for your Mac, looks like two sharp 5K displays side by side. Support for personalized spatial audio ensures more precise directional detection and thus an even more immersive sound experience.
Apple Vision Pro M5 with new Dual Knit Band
To improve wearing comfort, the Apple Vision Pro M5 comes with a Dual Knit Band, replacing the previous Solo Knit Band and the Dual Loop of the M2 model. The Dual Knit Band consists of a strap that goes over the top of the head and another at the back, allowing for better weight distribution. Weights are located in the back strap to distribute the weight and noticeably improve the wearing experience.
The top and bottom straps can be adjusted using an updated dial, so every Vision Pro wearer can find the optimal fit. The Dual Knit Band is not a miracle cure; Although it slightly improves the comfort of the Vision Pro, it remains a heavy headset. The M5 Vision Pro is still available for $3,499 (€3.016) and can be purchased directly from Apple. Owners of the first Vision Pro can purchase the Dual Knit Band separately for $99.
