Samsung Galaxy S24 teardown: Easy to fix
The Samsung Galaxy S24 was disassembled in a new video by the YouTube channel PBKreviews. It follows in the footsteps of the top-of-the-line Galaxy S24 Ultra, which received the same treatment last week. As it turns out, the S24 also has a larger copper vapor chamber than its predecessor – almost twice as large, to be precise, and just like the S24 Ultra. It seems that efficient cooling is a big issue with the current Samsung flagships.
During the teardown we are shown all the parts that were gradually removed. First the back has to come off, which requires a little heat. The camera lens covers can be removed individually and, unlike the Samsung Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra, the basic model does not have a UWB antenna.
Like last year, the mainboard has a two-layer structure. The 12 megapixel front camera is glued in and can only be replaced by cutting the glue with a knife. The rear cameras, on the other hand, can all be easily removed. Both the rear main camera and the telephoto camera are proven to have OIS. Samsung, on the other hand, has given the battery a pull tab so that it can be removed fairly easily.
Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to disassemble the display without damaging it. But you actually only have to do it if it’s broken anyway. In the end, the Galaxy S24 received a repairability rating of 9 out of 10 points. The biggest plus points were the good availability of spare parts and the easy replacement of the battery and various other parts such as the charging port. It was able to collect further laurels for the internal structure, short repair times and the easy replacement of the display.
