Apple MacBook Neo sold out until May
The Apple MacBook Neo was a huge success and is still in high demand more than a month after its release. Currently, PC manufacturers are raising prices due to global RAM shortages. However, the Neo only has 8 GB of RAM, which is also one reason for its low starting price of just €699/US$599.
Orders for the Apple MacBook Neo placed today in the Apple Online Store will not reach customers until May. As 9to5Mac reports, the device is sold out for April. All colors and the 256 GB and 512 GB SSD configurations will be shipped no earlier than between May 1st and 8th.
Some Apple Stores are already offering select colors in-store, while others won’t have stock again until May 11th. Third-party retailers also appear to lack immediate availability; Best Buy and Target in the US are quoting delivery times of at least one week.
10 million Apple MacBook Neo
Demand has exceeded expectations, and Apple is ramping up production. Apple now plans to ship ten million units in 2026, compared to the original estimate of five to six million. Following the launch of the “MacBook Neo,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said that Apple experienced the “most successful sales week ever for first-time Mac buyers“.
Apple may have to update the MacBook Neo sooner than expected because the available A18 Pro chips are not in unlimited supply. It’s possible that the A18 Pro chips will run out before demand for the Apple MacBook Neo can be met. Apple would therefore potentially have to restart production of the discontinued A18 Pro chips or use the A19 Pro chip.
