According to the Taiwan-based technology columnist and former Bloomberg reporter Tim Culpan Apple plans to launch a new MacBook Neo next year. In the latest edition of its Culpium newsletter, Culpan announced that the new Apple MacBook Neo will feature a version of the A19 Pro chip from the iPhone 17 Pro models.

This means that the next generation of the laptop is likely to have 12 GB of RAM, as the chip in the iPhone 17 Pro models also has this amount of memory. The current Apple MacBook Neo features an A18 Pro chip and 8 GB of RAM.

The iPhone 17 Pro models feature an A19 Pro chip and a 6-core GPU. However, Culpan expects Apple to use a selected version of the chip with a 5-core GPU in the next MacBook Neo. Since the current model also has a 5-core GPU, this wouldn’t be anything new.

Apple MacBook Neo A19 Pro is coming in 2027

It was already generally accepted that the affordable MacBook would ultimately be equipped with the A19 Pro, but Culpan’s information from his sources in the Asian supply chain now confirms this and mentions a release date next year. Apple unveiled the current model in March this year, and so far it seems to be proving to be a great success.

According to a separate report by DigiTimes the production of the Apple notebook takes place in China and Vietnam. Culpan explained that Apple is in talks with suppliers to potentially increase production in light of sales figures that apparently exceeded expectations.

He noted, however, that this put the company in a “massive dilemma.” After all, the margins on the budget laptop are significantly lower than on the higher-end Apple MacBook Air and especially the MacBook Pro.
