Xiaomi introduced the Redmi Turbo 4 last year, exactly one day after New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day 2025. At the end of April, the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro followed. This year we expect three new Turbo models, and the latest addition to the series could even be the first to appear – Xiaomi has released the first teaser for the Redmi Turbo 5 Max.

According to Xiaomi, the Redmi Turbo 5 Max will be the fastest smartphone with the best battery in the 2,500 CNY price range. This is roughly equivalent to 305 euros / 360 US dollars / 32,500 ₹. However, please note that prices worldwide tend to be higher once customs duties and taxes are added.

Unfortunately, the price range is the only concrete figure Xiaomi mentioned in its official teaser. Unofficially, a tipster reports… SmartPikachuthat the new Turbo series will have a metal frame with rounded corners and large displays and will be equipped with MediaTek Dimensity 8 and 9 chips.

Previously, we had heard that the Redmi Turbo 5 runs on the Dimensity 8500 chipset, while the Turbo 5 Pro has a Dimensity 9500e, which is supposedly a less powerful version of the flagship chip Dimensity 9500. According to 3C data, the Pro will have over 100 watts of charging power. It is also said to have a 1.5K LTPS OLED display and an ultrasonic fingerprint reader.

Poco F8 Pro as a rebranded Redmi Turbo 5 Max?

The Pro model is interesting, by the way, because last year the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro was internationally launched as the Poco F7. Should the Redmi Turbo 5 Pro become the Poco F8, it remains to be seen what will happen to the Max – that F8 Pro and the F8 Ultra are already on the market.

Another leaker, Digital Chat Station, reports that the new series will be launched this month. The Redmi Turbo 5 Max is allegedly equipped with a “Dimensity 9500s” chipset, a variant of the 9400+. There may have been a mix-up in the naming – last year the Dimensity 9400e was a rebranded 9300+, so the 9500e is likely based on the 9400+.

The Poco F8 Pro and F8 Ultra are both equipped with Snapdragon 8 Elite chipsets. Therefore, the Redmi Turbo 5 Max will have different hardware. However, the Pro model could still serve as the basis for the standard F8 model.
