Xiaomi Poco F8 Ultra and Redmi Turbo 5 before launch
The Poco F7 Ultra was launched in March together with the Poco F7 Pro has been launched. Until now, we’ve been used to one F-series being released annually. However, that could soon change—the Poco F8 Ultra has already been certified by the NBTC for sale in Thailand. The Redmi Turbo 5 is also in the pipeline.
Poco F8 Ultra certified
The Poco F8 Ultra has been certified with model number 25102PCBEG. These certifications don’t happen immediately before a device’s official release, but usually not too far in advance either. Therefore, we expect the F8 Ultra to be unveiled well before the end of March.
There were rumors that the Poco F8 Ultra would be a rebranded Redmi K90 Pro. However, Redmi has complicated things a bit, as there will also be a K90 Pro Max this year, for which new teasers are currently appearing almost daily. The Pro Max has definitely played a major role in the brand’s teasers in recent days before its announcement in a few days, so it is likely the top model in the series.
The Poco F8 Ultra will play a similar role for the Poco series, so it could actually be a rebranded Redmi K90 Pro Max. The K90 Pro Max will feature a 6.9-inch OLED display with DC dimming across the entire brightness range, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, a main camera with a 1/1.31-inch sensor, a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a periscope telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom, and a very large battery.
Redmi Turbo 5 arrives earlier than expected
The Redmi Turbo 4 launched in early January, but its successor is reportedly not going to wait until the first anniversary but will arrive sooner, possibly as early as next month. The Redmi Turbo 5 is said to feature a metal frame, a simple camera island design, an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor, and an even larger battery than the 6,550 mAh cell of the Turbo 4.
The Redmi Turbo 5 is expected to be powered by a new MediaTek chipset, which is said to be a “mid-range flagship.” This is likely the Dimensity 8500 Ultra, which is also expected to power the Oppo Reno15 Pro and the Honor Power 2.
According to previous rumors, the Redmi Turbo 5 will feature a flat 6.6-inch display with a 1.5K resolution and a battery of approximately 7,500 mAh or 9,000 mAh – the rumor mill is still divided on this point. In any case, 100-watt wired charging is expected. It should also offer a thin and lightweight design and good dust and water resistance. Internationally, the Redmi Turbo 5 could be released as the Poco X8 Pro.
