Realme GT8 unveiled with Ricoh cameras and 7,000 mAh battery
Here comes the Realme GT8, which was officially unveiled in China today alongside the GT8 Pro. Although the standard version looks quite similar to the Pro, both visually and on paper, there are some subtle differences.
First of all, the camera island isn’t customizable, so you’ll want to choose the one you like best. Like the Pro, the standard Realme GT8 is available in white, green, and blue. The green color has a micro-texture, while the other two colors are matte.
The Realme GT8 is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite, Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line chipset from last year, instead of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in the GT8 Pro. Another difference is the 7,000 mAh battery, which, while charging slightly slower at 100W wired compared to 120W, is still only 2 minutes slower than the Pro and reaches 100% in 45 minutes. Wireless charging, however, is not included.
The standard model, however, appears to have the same 6.79-inch 1440p AMOLED display with a 144 Hz LTPO panel and up to 2,000 nits of high brightness and a whopping 4,000 nits of peak brightness.
Realme GT8 with a different camera system
The Realme GT8, however, has a technically inferior camera system. The main camera is the same 50 MP sensor with a 1/1.56-inch sensor and a 22 mm f/1.8 lens, and continues to be optimized by Ricoh’s camera experts. You benefit from Ricoh’s color technology with various shooting modes such as high-contrast black and white, monotone, and standard. Ricoh cameras are known for their sharp photos, natural colors, and contrast.
But the other cameras are different. The zoom sensor has 50 MP instead of 200 MP and an 80 mm f/2.8 lens with a longer range. Despite the higher resolution, the Pro only has a 65 mm lens, so you can’t really call it a downgrade. However, the ultra-wide-angle lens only has an 8 MP resolution on a smaller sensor, while the Pro has a 50 MP ultra-wide lens.
The Realme GT8 launches with the Android 16-based Realme UI 7.0. The camera app has been redesigned to match the phone’s Ricoh collaboration. The GT8 is now available in China in various configurations.
