Realme GT8 Pro with Ricoh camera and SD Elite Gen 5 is here
Round, square, or visor-shaped—these are the common shapes of smartphone camera islands, but Realme has set out to create a more customized look. The Realme GT8 Pro is the brand’s first smartphone with an interchangeable camera housing, allowing you to completely change the look of your phone in just a few simple steps.
The Realme GT8 Pro’s camera housing features two side Torx screws that secure the module. The system appears to use magnets, allowing the housing to snap into place instantly and then be secured with the two screws. Realme announced that it will offer various designs, including square, round, and robot models, which will be available in the brand’s official stores.
Realme also offers its users the opportunity to 3D print their own camera island designs. The company has released the 3mf model file and, in collaboration with MakerWorld, is hosting a competition for the most creative designs.
The Realme GT8 Pro isn’t just about looks, as it features a powerful triple camera setup, led by a Ricoh-optimized main camera, marking the official start of the collaboration between Realme and Ricoh.
The Realme GT8 Pro’s 50MP main camera features a 1/1.56-inch sensor and an f/1.8 aperture. The GT8 Pro is also compatible with the Ricoh GR’s full-frame 28mm and 40mm focal lengths. You also get access to five of the Ricoh GR’s iconic photo tones: Positive, Negative, High-Contrast Black and White, Standard, and Monochrome.
The main camera features a 65mm 200MP lens with 3x optical zoom and up to 12x lossless zoom. It uses a 1/1.56-inch ISOCELL HP5 sensor with an f/2.6 aperture and offers dual-axis OIS stabilization.
The third camera on the rear is a 16mm-equivalent 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens with an f/2.0 aperture and a 116-degree field of view. Maximum video recording is 8K at 30 fps.
The rest of the specs are also impressive. You get the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Extreme Edition chipset paired with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1 TB of UFS 4.1 storage. Realme also includes its custom R1 graphics chip.
The GT8 Pro features a flagship AMOLED with QHD+ resolution (3,136 x 1,440 pixels) and a refresh rate of 144 Hz. Brightness reaches up to 2,000 nits under normal conditions and can be boosted to 4,000 nits in local peak areas. There’s also a 32MP selfie camera and an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.
The Realme GT8 Pro has a combined battery capacity of 7,000 mAh, split between two Si/C cells. Wired charging reaches a maximum of 120W, and wireless charging reaches a maximum of 50W. Despite the larger cell, the GT8 Pro is 8.2 mm thick, compared to 8.55 mm for the GT7 Pro.
The new phone also features IP66, IP68, and IP69 protection ratings and launches out of the box with Realme UI 7, based on Android 16.
Realme GT8 Pro Prices
The Realme GT8 Pro is available in white, green, and blue. Prices start at CNY 3,999 (€484/$562) for the 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage configuration, and go up to CNY 5,199 (€629/$730) for the top-of-the-line 16 GB and 1 TB storage configuration. Pre-orders in China are available starting today.
