Samsung W26 unveiled in China with satellite connectivity
The Samsung W26, available exclusively in China, is now official. It’s a modified Galaxy Z Fold7 with a few minor changes and sleeker packaging.
Samsung has also added satellite connectivity to the W26, allowing users in China to use the Tiantong satellite system to make calls and send messages in areas without network connectivity.
The only other hardware change is the 16 GB of RAM, which comes standard on both the 512 GB and 1 TB W26 models.
The Samsung W26 is available in red and black. Both models feature gold accents on the frame and camera bezels. Another change is the significantly larger retail packaging, which retains the gold accents and also includes some free extras that are no longer included with Samsung phones.
These include a color-matching Kevlar case, a 25-watt charger, a USB-C cable, and a gift card worth 1,000 CNY (121 €/141 $).
Samsung W26 Prices
The nicer packaging and the extras come at a price: The W26 starts at 16,999 CNY for the version with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage are available, corresponding to €2,062/$2,390. The top model with 16 GB RAM and 1 TB storage costs CNY 18,999 (€2,305/$2,670).
The Samsung W26 can already be pre-ordered directly from Samsung and through China Telecom. Last year, the Samsung W25 was launched in China and South Korea as the Chinese version of the Galaxy Z Fold6. At the time, however, Samsung gave the new version a 200 MP main camera (instead of 50 MP), larger displays, and a thinner profile.
