Along with iOS 26, for which the iOS 26.1 Beta has just been released, Apple has also introduced a new tvOS 26 update for Apple TV. tvOS updates don’t offer as many features as iOS updates and often go unnoticed. MacRumors has already tested the new features and compiled the best tips and features to try out.
tvOS 26 Features:
- Liquid Glass – Liquid Glass makes a subtle appearance in tvOS 26, as Apple adds Liquid Glass buttons, interface elements, and the Control Center. It’s not as extensive as Liquid Glass in iOS 26 and integrates well with the tvOS operating system.
- Apple TV App – The Apple TV app has been redesigned to display more TV shows and movies on the screen at once.
- Profiles – Switching between profiles is much easier in tvOS 26, allowing you to separate your favorite content from that of other family members. You can select a profile each time you wake your Apple TV. You’ll receive better suggestions per person, allowing you to separate content for children from content for adults.

- Karaoke – When using Apple Music Sing, you can use your iPhone as a microphone. The iPhone can display lyrics, lyrics translations, and lyrics pronunciations in real time.
- AirPlay – If you use third-party speakers with Apple TV, you can now set them as the default AirPlay speakers. Your Apple TV will then automatically use these speakers, and you won’t have to select them every time you use the device.
- FaceTime – FaceTime has been supported on Apple TV with an iPhone as the camera since last year, but now there’s an updated map-style interface and support for live translation with subtitles.
- Screensavers – You can select your preferred screensaver categories, such as Cityscapes, Earth, Landscapes, and more. Each user can select their own screensaver if they wish.
