Oppo K13 Turbo and Turbo Pro: Active fan in action
The Oppo K13 Turbo and K13 Turbo Pro will be fully unveiled on July 21. Before then, the company’s teaser campaign for the duo is in full swing. The video below shows the devices’ built-in active fan at work. It seems to work quite well, even easily extinguishing a few candles. Take a look for yourself:
Oppo claims that the fan design increases cooling efficiency by 300% compared to conventional fans, reduces space requirements by 70%, and increases fan performance by 120%.
The actual purpose of the fan is, of course, to enable smooth gaming at high frame rates without throttling performance due to excessive heat. According to Wei Wei, product manager of the Oppo K series, the new devices run at an average of 120.36 fps in Honor of Kings and 119.76 fps in Game for Peace, thanks to the switched-on fan, with stable frame rates throughout.
According to a Geekbench test from Sunday, in which the Oppo K13 Turbo Pro appeared with its Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, the concept seems to work – The device achieved 2,156 single-core points and 6,652 multi-core points. There is also an optional Super Cooling Kit for the Oppo K13 Turbo and Turbo Pro. This consists of a case with magnets to which an external fan can be attached to improve cooling.
OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra could adopt the Oppo K13 Turbo’s fan.
Incidentally, both the Oppo K13 Turbo and the K13 Turbo Pro are waterproof to IPX6, IPX8, and IPX9 standards, despite the integrated fan. According to a second rumor from China, sister company OnePlus is closely monitoring developments and could also be planning air-cooled, waterproof smartphones, namely the OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra.
However, OnePlus is said to have not yet made a decision regarding the fan project. However, it shouldn’t be long before a decision is made, considering that the Ace 5 Ultra and the Ace 5 Ultra Racing Edition were launched in May, and its successor will likely be released around the same time next year.
According to the source of this rumor, many other brands are currently testing integrated fans for future smartphones. This could be the next big trend from China and eventually even reach the affordable mid-range models.
