Huawei Pura 80 Pro+ and Ultra have Kirin 9020 chipsets
Huawei announced the Pura 80 series on Wednesday, including a new Huawei Pura 80 Ultra. As usual, Huawei did not reveal which chipsets are used in these smartphones. Officially, Huawei only states that they are 36% faster than their predecessors in the Pura 70 models.
On Weibo, we’ve already seen hands-on photos of the Pura 80 Ultra, which is rumored to use the same chipset as the Pura 80 Pro+ – the Kirin 9020, which was also used in the Mate 70 series. The Pura 70 series used the older Kirin 9010.
The Kirin 9020 was developed by Huawei’s subsidiary HiSilicon. It consists of three Taishan core clusters: a main core running at 2.5 GHz, three mid-core cores running at 2.15 GHz, and four small cores running at 1.6 GHz. Note that two of the larger cores have hyperthreading and can each execute two threads. This is why the Huawei Pura 80 Pro+ and Ultra are displayed in some apps with a 2+6+4 configuration instead of the actual 1+3+4 configuration. The GPU is a Maleoon 920 running at 840 MHz.

However, it remains unclear which chip is installed in the Huawei Pura 80 Pro – it may be the same Kirin 9020, but this has not been confirmed yet. As for the standard Pura 80 model, some experts claim it uses the Kirin 9020A, a downclocked version of the 9020 with three CPU clusters clocked at 2.4 GHz, 2.0 GHz, and 1.6 GHz.
The Pura 80 and 80 Pro are equipped with 12 GB of RAM. Storage ranges from 256 GB to 1 TB. The Pura 80 Pro+ and Ultra, on the other hand, have 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB and 1 TB of storage, respectively. All four run HarmonyOS 5.1.
