Huawei has introduced the next generation of the Pura 80 series – with 1-inch sensors, more processing power, larger batteries, improved satellite communications, and much more. There are four new models. We’re introducing the first three here; The Ultra model will be covered in a separate post.

Huawei Pura 80

The Huawei Pura 80 is the smallest smartphone in the family and features a flat 6.6-inch display (1,256 x 2,760 pixels). Thanks to advanced battery technology, the smartphone has a capacity of 5,600 mAh. The device offers 66W fast wired and 50W fast wireless charging.

Huawei Pura 80 Pro

The Huawei Pura 80 Pro and Pura 80 Pro+ feature larger 6.8-inch displays with quad-curved glass (the screens themselves, however, appear flat). All Pura 80 models are equipped with LTPO OLED displays (1-120 Hz) with 10-bit color depth and second-generation Kunlun Glass.

The Pro models have a slightly larger battery at 5,700 mAh. The biggest upgrade is faster charging – 100W wired and 80W wireless. The standard model has a USB 2.0 port, while the Pro and Pro+ have USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports.

Huawei does not indicate which chipsets are used in the Pura 80 series. It is only said that the ARK Engine in Pro and Pro+ makes the models 36 % faster than its predecessors. The standard and pro models have 12 GB RAM and 256 GB/512 GB/1 TB memory. The Pro+ has 16 GB of RAM and does without the 256 GB storage variant, instead it offers 512 GB and 1 Tb.

The standard model Pura 80 has a 50 MP main camera with variable aperture F/1.4-F/4.0 and OIS. In addition, there is a 12-MP periscope with a 5.5-time zoom and 125 mm focal length as well as an F/3.4 lens with OIS. On the back there is also a 13-MP ultra-wake angle camera (13 mm) and a 1.5 MP multi-channel spectrum sensor. The selfie camera is the same for all PURA 80 models-a 13-MP sensor behind an ultra-wet angle lens f/2.0 with autofocus.

Huawei Pura 80 Pro+

The Huawei Pura 80 Pro and Pro+ have a 1-inch main camera with 50 MP (variable aperture f/1.6-F/4.0, OIS). The Telekamera was also upgraded with a sensor with a higher resolution at 48 MP and a slightly shorter 4x/93 mm lens with a larger aperture of f/2.1 and telema-macofunctions (and of course OIS). The ultra-wake angle camera was upgraded to a 40-MP sensor (13 mm lens), and the 1.5 MP spectrum sensor is also on board.

Huawei has improved the satellite messaging features of its Pura smartphones. The Pura 80 and 80 Pro support the Beidou constellation – they can send and receive messages, as well as photos! The Beidou system can also send messages and alerts in an emergency.

The Huawei Pura 80 Pro+ supports dual satellite communications – Beidou and Tiantong. Interestingly, the phone can stay connected to a satellite without you having to actively point it at it.

Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7 (be) at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, Bluetooth 5.2 (LDAC, L2HC), NFC, and NearLink (also known as SparkLink), a Huawei-led project to develop a Bluetooth alternative. The smartphones are IP68 (up to 2 m depth) and IP69 (up to 2 m depth) certified. High-temperature water jets are also possible.

The Huawei Pura 80 Pro and Pro+ are available in China starting today. Prices for the different storage variants can be found below. The standard Pura 80 model is not yet available.
