Flat Samsung Galaxy M56 with 45-watt charging is here
Later this year, Samsung will launch its new slim flagship – the Galaxy S25 Edge. But that’s not the only thin and light phone on the 2025 list: The Samsung Galaxy M56 is, according to the company, the slimmest phone in its segment.
In concrete terms, the Samsung Galaxy M56 is 7.2 mm thick and weighs 180 g. For comparison, the Galaxy A56 is 7.4 mm thick and weighs 198 g, and the Galaxy M55 weighs 7.8 mm and 180 g. All three Samsung phones feature 5,000 mAh batteries and 6.7-inch Super AMOLED+ displays. The latter is 33% brighter and has 36% narrower bezels than its predecessor. The 1080p+ panel offers a 120 Hz refresh rate.
The Galaxy M56 is powered by last year’s Exynos 1480 chipset. While not as fast as the current Exynos 1580 found in the A56, the 1480 is still a 4 nm chip with AMD RDNA 2 graphics and Cortex-A78/A55 CPU cores. It also features a 33% larger vapor chamber than the M55 to keep things cool even under load.
The chip is equipped with 8 GB of RAM (LPDDR5x) and 128 GB of storage (UFS 3.1). There’s no mention of a microSD slot, but the device has two SIM slots and 5G support at sub-6 GHz (bands: 1, 3, 5, 8, 28, 40, 41, 78). Other connectivity options include USB 2.0 Type-C, Wi-Fi 6 (ax), and Bluetooth 5.3. There’s no NFC.
Samsung Galaxy M56 with 50+8+2+12 MP cameras
The camera system features a 50-megapixel main camera with an f/1.8 OIS lens and 4K video recording at 30 frames per second. Video recording also supports 10-bit HDR mode. There’s no telephoto lens; instead, the main camera has 2x in-sensor zoom.
The back of the Samsung Galaxy M56 also features an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 2 MP macro camera. On the front, there’s a 12 MP selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture. Thanks to Galaxy AI, you can edit photos, remove unwanted objects, or convert them into clip art.
The Samsung Galaxy M56’s 5,000 mAh battery charges at 45 watts. There’s no dust or water resistance rating, but Samsung has made the M56 slightly more durable than the M55. Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection on the front and back now offers four times the scratch resistance of the previous model. The phone has also been drop-tested from a height of 2 meters.
Prices
The Samsung Galaxy M56 is manufactured in India and will receive software support until the end of 2030 (that means six operating system updates and six years of security patches). It will soon be available in light green and black. The Galaxy M56 will go on sale in India on April 23rd at a starting price of ₹25,000 (€260/$295) via Amazon India.
