Samsung Galaxy A36: Renderings show new back
Samsung will be changing its established design language with the launch of the Galaxy A36 (and presumably the A56). We can see the new look now in the first 3D renders courtesy of Giznext and OnLeaks. The phone will take a step back in time – the three camera lenses on the back will no longer be separate elements, but will instead be grouped into a vertically arranged camera island. Similar layouts have been seen in abundance in the past, both on the Xiaomis and the Galaxys of this world.
Samsung will retain some design elements from the current A series, such as the key island (the bump where the power and volume buttons are). However, the Galaxy A36 will be marginally narrower than the A35 and less wide – 78.0mm vs. 78.4mm when including the key island. The new model will be slightly taller, however, at 162.6mm vs. 161.7mm.
This is partly because Samsung is increasing the display size of the Galaxy A36 to 6.64 inches (previously 6.60 inches). The upcoming model will be slimmer than its predecessor, measuring 7.4 mm (previously 8.2 mm). Including the camera bump, the thickness increases to 9.6 mm. There is no information on battery capacity yet.
Yesterday, the first Geekbench test of the Samsung Galaxy A36 came to light with the model code SM-A366B and Android 15. The chipset was not entirely clear – it is either the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 or the 7s Gen 2. This represents another supplier change for the A3x series, which switched from the Dimensity 1080 on the Galaxy A34 to the Exynos 1380 on the A35.
The images show a flat display with a centered punch hole for the selfie camera and slightly asymmetrical edges. In short, the Galaxy A36 looks pretty much the same as its predecessor from the front. There’s no fingerprint sensor on the side, so it will sit further under the display.
The Samsung Galaxy A56 was also recently leaked, this one with a new Exynos 1580 chipset with AMD RDNA graphics. Don’t be discouraged by these leaks, it will probably be a few more months before we see the A36 and A56 officially – the A35 and A55 were launched in mid-March.
