Samsung Exynos 1330

Samsung has unveiled its new mid-range chipsets – the Exynos 1330 and Exynos 1380. The Exynos 1380 is the successor to last year’s Exynos 1280 and now comes with support for UFS 3.1 storage and a more powerful AI engine. It also supports refresh rates of up to 144 Hz and cameras with up to 200 megapixels. The Exynos 1330 has a little less power and should primarily score with its efficiency.

Samsung Exynos 1380

The Samsung Exynos 1380 is based on a 5 Nm EUV process. It consists of four Cortex-A78 performance cores clocked at 2.4 GHz and four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores running at 2.0 GHz. The GPU side is taken care of by an ARM Mali-G68 MP5.

Samsung Exynos 1380 specifications:

  • Process technology: 5 Nm EUV
  • CPU: 4x Cortex-A78 @ 2,4 GHz, 4x Cortex-A55 @ 2,0 GHz
  • GPU: ARM Mali-G68 MP5
  • KI: KI-Engine mit NPU, 4,9 TOPS
  • Modem: 5G NR Sub-6GHz, 5G NR mmWave, 3,79 Gbit/s DL, 1,28 Gbit/s UL, global 5G Multi-SIM
  • Camera: Single camera with up to 200 Megapixels, Triple camera with up to 16 Megapixels, 4K-videorecording with 30 fps
  • Display: FHD+ with 144 Hz
  • RAM: LPDDR4x/5
  • Storage: UFS 3.1
  • Connectivity: Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo GNSS

According to Samsung, the Exynos 1380’s AI capabilities offer more advanced speech recognition for voice support, as well as improved image recognition. There is an integrated 5G modem with support for mmWave and sub-6GHz networks. But the chipset also handles dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.2 and NFC, as well as BeiDou, Galileo, GLONASS, GPS and GNSS satellites. The Exynos 1380 chipset is expected to make its debut in the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A54.

Samsung Exynos 1330

The Samsung Exynos 1330 offers slightly less performance and is therefore aimed at the cheaper mid-range Samsung smartphones. The manufacturing process is also highly modern with the same 5 Nm. The Exynos 1330 also supports UFS 3.1 and LPDDR5 RAM. In addition, the clock frequencies of the processor cores are identical, but the composition is different.

Samsung Exynos 1330 specifications:

  • Process technology: 5 Nm EUV
  • CPU: 2x Cortex-A78 @ 2,4 GHz, 6x Cortex-A55 @ 2,0 GHz
  • GPU: ARM Mali-G68 MP2
  • Modem: 5G NR Sub-6GHz, 2,55 Gbit/s DL, 1,28 Gbit/s UL, global 5G Multi-SIM
  • Camera: Single camera with up to 108 Megapixels, Dual camera with up to 16 Megapixels, 4K-videorecording with 30 fps
  • Display: FHD+ with 120 Hz
  • RAM: LPDDR4x/5
  • Storage: UFS 3.1
  • Connectivity: Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo GNSS

However, not only the CPU has two performance cores less – the GPU also only has two instead of five processors. Cameras are supported up to a resolution of 108 megapixels. But you can also shoot 4K videos at 30 frames per second with the Exynos 1330. The maximum display resolution of FullHD+ is also the same, but capped at a 120Hz refresh rate on the 1330.
