One of the problems people have consistently had with Samsung’s Flip series of foldable smartphones is battery life. This is due to the rather small batteries that are installed in all devices. The Galaxy Z Flip5, which came onto the market last summer, only has to make do with 3,700 mAh. This now seems to have also reached the South Koreans themselves, who apparently want to increase the capacity of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 is expected to be officially presented in the middle of the year. And even if the next Flip gets a larger battery, the capacity isn’t groundbreaking. There is supposedly 4,000 mAh under the hood. That’s still less than Oppo’s Find N3 Flip, which has a 4,300 mAh battery. At least the Flip6 settles right in the middle and offers around 8% more than the Flip5.

As with all foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Flip6 divides the total battery capacity across two cells, one for each side. One of them has a capacity of 1,097 mAh and the other of 2,790 mAh. This gives a total rated capacity of 3,887 mAh, which corresponds to a typical capacity of 4,000 mAh. The Galaxy S24 offers a rated capacity of 3,880 mAh, which Samsung advertises as a typical capacity of 4,000 mAh.

For comparison: In the Galaxy Z Flip5, one cell has a nominal capacity of 971 mAh. The other of 2,620 mAh, for a total of 3,591 mAh. This brings the typical capacity mentioned above to 3,700 mAh. According to previous rumors, the Galaxy Z Flip6 will have a 3.9-inch cover display, 0.5-inch larger than its predecessor’s 3.4-inch display. The foldable main display should also have thinner bezels. It will also get a 50 megapixel main camera as opposed to the 12 MP primary camera in the Flip5.
