Google brings Photos integration to Gemini
The AI assistant Gemini supports integration with various Google apps, including Calendar, Drive, Docs, Maps, YouTube, and others. The Android version also works with Spotify, OpenStax, WhatsApp, and Photos.
The new version of the app was previewed last month, and 9to5Google has discovered that it’s finally available on devices. It adds two new components: The first allows you to search through saved images and photos to find faces, places, and dates, and it also offers reaction-specific prompts like “See recent selfies” or “Find landscape photos.”
The second component is more data-hungry, asking questions like “Where did I eat vegan food in Lisbon?” and “What is the year of the Ferrari I saw in Bergamo?” Tapping on a result opens the Photos app and provides a “Show more” button to reveal more details.
Google Photos can be enabled through the Gemini Android app. Apps are located in the profile menu in the top right corner. There, scroll to “Media” and activate Google Photos. It should be next to Spotify and YouTube, but the app is being rolled out gradually—it’s currently only available in the US.
