Gemini Live goes live - Google's AI assistant is now available for free to all Android users.

Gemini Live is a service that offers real-time conversations using Google’s AI service. It was initially introduced as a feature for Advanced subscribers, but today the company announced that it will be available for free to all users. The feature differs from the regular Gemini app in that it offers natural conversation flow and exchanges, allowing for breaks for new information or directions.

Gemini Live is available on the Gemini app, which is only available on the Play Store, meaning only Android users can use the service. Also, it is only rolling out on phones set to English, but more languages are expected to follow soon.

Live can be activated via the glitter icon on the bottom right of the Gemini app. Then a screen will simply open with two buttons – Hold and End to navigate the conversation. Once the chat is over, the user can see a transcription of the entire interaction. Live does not currently support extensions such as Gmail, YouTube Music, or Maps.
