Xiaomi 15 Pro: Battery capacity, test photos and gaming tests
The Xiaomi 15 Pro and the base model will be presented at an event on October 29th. The Chinese have therefore been posting teasers with various technical data and test photos of the cameras for weeks. And today is no different – three new leaks show test photos of the cameras, the performance of the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset in gaming tests and the battery capacities. Accordingly, the Xiaomi 15 Pro will have a large 6,100 mAh battery.
In addition, the display has symmetrical 1.38 mm bezels on all four sides and DC dimming at full brightness, which is 3,200 nits. At the same time, Xiaomi promises 10% less power consumption thanks to the new, tailor-made M9 materials.
It has also been officially confirmed that the Xiaomi 15 Pro has a 2K resolution display and a 5x periscope telephoto camera on the back. The Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset is said to use a microarchitecture scheduler developed by Xiaomi itself, which is expected to result in a 19% increase in computing efficiency and a 45.7% reduction in app launch response time.
Sample photos of the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro
Shortly after Xiaomi confirmed the 6,100mAh battery capacity and new 5x telephoto camera on the Xiaomi 15 Pro, the company shared a set of sample photos of both Xiaomi smartphones to show off the new camera features.
The first two photos are of the Xiaomi 15 Pro and its 50MP main camera and the new 50MP telephoto, a decent upgrade over the 3.2x telephoto camera on the Xiaomi 14 Pro. It looks like the main camera will retain the f/1.4 aperture, while the telephoto camera will get a fairly large f/2.5 aperture.
Xiaomi also boasts of AISP 2.0, an AI-powered image processing algorithm that reduces processing time by 82% and improves image quality. For this reason, Xiaomi posted two photos taken with the 3.2x telephoto lens of the smaller Xiaomi 15. One of the examples is a crop of the telephoto camera at 5x zoom, which delivers pretty good image quality.
Gaming tests show extreme performance
If you’ve been wondering how the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset performs when gaming, well-known tipster Digital Chat Station has published some early benchmark tests. They show the performance of both the Xiaomi 15 and the Xiaomi 15 Pro.
Genshin Impact ran on the Xiaomi 15 with maximum settings and an average of 59.9 FPS. This meant that the chip’s power consumption in the test reached just over 4 watts and the maximum temperature was only 39 degrees. The race against the big competitor Dimensity 9400 remains exciting – at similar FPS, the Snapdragon 8 Elite seems to run a little more energy efficiently. Interestingly, however, the chip consumes significantly more power than its predecessor Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
The tests also included runs of Honor of Kings, which achieved an average of 119.8 FPS with a power consumption of 3.65 watts and a maximum temperature of 37.9 degrees. The third test included a round of Honkai: Star Rail with an average of 59.8 FPS and a power consumption of 4.53 watts.
The Xiaomi 15 also passed the 3D Mark Steel Nomad GPU test, achieving an impressive score of 2,530 points with an average of 18.7 FPS. The values are significantly higher than last year’s Apple iPhone 15 Pro.
Just a few days ago, a Xiaomi 15 prototype had shown its performance in a Geekbench test. This resulted in a very high single-core score of 3,180 points and a multi-core value of 10,058 points. The Xiaomi 15 series launches the day after tomorrow, on October 29th.
