Geekbench test confirms: Apple iPad mini (2024) has 8 GB RAM
Apple announced the new iPad mini (2024) on Tuesday with a simple press release. On Thursday, the first details came to light about what’s wrong with the A17 Pro chipset. And since today, thanks to the first Geekbench test, we also know the size of the RAM.
The Apple iPad mini (2024) appeared as the iPad 16.2 in the Geekbench test and managed 2,817 single-core and 6,982 multi-core points. The result matches the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max – the only other devices with the Apple A17 Pro chipset – quite well. The new iPad has a binned version of the A17 Pro. This has one less GPU core than the version in the iPhone 15 Pro models.
But even more important is the confirmation that the 7th generation Apple iPad mini is equipped with 8 GB of RAM. This appears to be a system requirement for running Apple Intelligence when it finally officially launches with iPadOS 18.1.
The tablet costs €599/$499/£499 for the 128GB model with Wi-Fi and $649/€769/£649 for the cellular version, but will soon be significantly cheaper in our Apple iPad mini (2024) price comparison. Pre-orders are already open, with shipping set to begin on October 23.
