The Honor Magic V3 is already available in China and will be coming to Europe at the IFA trade fair in Berlin early next month. It is not only the thinnest foldable device on the market, but according to Honor, it is also one of the most durable. This is supported by several torture tests of the new Honor smartphone, including with a hydraulic press machine and a washing machine.

Many people still believe that foldable smartphones are inherently much more fragile than conventional devices. Although foldable devices have now had half a decade to evolve and leave the initial difficulties behind. In addition, an extremely thin and light smartphone usually comes at the expense of durability. However, this does not seem to be the case with the Honor Magic V3.

Under the hydraulic press machine, the hinge of the Magic V3 withstood a pressure of 1,150 kg and even beat a granite rock. This is mainly thanks to the housing material developed by Honor itself, called Super Steel. In addition, the V3 uses a special fiber that is stronger than Kevlar and standard carbon fiber. The foldable main display is made of an impact-resistant silicone gel material. When impacted, it solidifies and protects the screen. On the other hand, the outer panel is protected by a scratch-resistant NanoCrystal Shield with a 50% higher crystal density than standard displays.

In addition, the Honor Magic V3 is IPX8 certified and can be submerged to a depth of 2.5 meters without any problems. Accordingly, the washing machine test runs without any problems.

GSMArena also subjected the Magic V3 to a series of durability tests. This also included a washing machine test, which the foldable also passed without any problems. The V3 was then frozen in a block of ice to test its resistance to extreme temperatures. There were no problems with this either. The plastic protection of the folding display was scratched with fingernails, but it is replaceable.

The hinge of the Magic V3 was probably the worst treated. First a 5 kg weight was hung on it, then the phone was used as a hammer. It did get a few dents, but continued to work without any problems. The video ends with a few drop tests, but here too the V3 shows no weaknesses. The official launch date of Honor during the IFA 2024 in Berlin is September 5th. We are curious about the prices for the European market.
