Apple Vision Pro survives durability test
Of course, it was only a matter of time before someone took apart the $3,500 Apple Vision Pro headset for “testing purposes.” While the video is definitely not scientific, it does provide some valuable insight into the overall durability of the headset. The good news is that with normal use you probably don’t have anything to worry about.
The Apple Vision Pro withstood small bumps and scratches pretty well in the test. Apart from a few scratches on the front glass, the device was generally in good condition and worked perfectly. However, one of the speakers completely failed after a few falls. Apparently the area of the headband around the speakers and the user’s ears is a weak point. There appears to be a delicate hinge hidden in this area, which shows some damage in the video and even stood out through the material of the cover.
According to the Apple Vision Pro test, the most important point is that the light seal is not securely attached to the headset. The cover appears to be held only by magnets. This means that you should never hold the headset by the seal or pick it up, no matter how practical it may seem. It will come loose and the expensive device will fall to the floor.
There are also some interesting revelations about the Vision Pro’s front glass at the end of the video. We don’t want to give spoilers, but you could even say that it’s more or less “optional”.
