Apple Smart Glasses only at WWDC 2027?
According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple is currently planning to unveil its first smart glasses at WWDC 2027 in June of next year, with a focus on data privacy. The report states that Apple is already developing several prototypes for the Apple Smart Glasses, featuring “a range of new hardware and software privacy-enhancing features” not available in current products.
Gurman did not mention any specific features, but noted that Apple’s marketing would likely emphasize the privacy features of its glasses compared to competing products such as the Meta Ray-Ban Glasses.
Apple Smart Glasses with a crippled camera?
In a world where some people are concerned about being secretly filmed by camera-equipped glasses, Gurman said Apple had considered releasing smart glasses with cameras that would support AI features but lack photo and video recording capabilities. In fact, Apple had even developed prototypes of smart glasses without a camera system.
However, the most likely outcome is that the Apple Smart Glasses will have cameras, albeit with the privacy protection typical of the company.
Similar to Ray-Ban’s Meta glasses, Apple’s glasses would also feature speakers and microphones for music, phone calls, and notifications announced by Siri. According to the latest leak, Apple plans to release the glasses for general sale starting in late 2027.
