Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold will soon be discontinued
According to a new report from Samsung’s home country of Korea, the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold, the company’s first smartphone with a double-folding display, has been discontinued approximately three months after its market launch. Samsung will reportedly end sales of the device in South Korea on March 17.
The company has already experienced several supply shortages of the foldable Galaxy phone, as it was only produced in extremely small quantities. Therefore, only a few units were ever available, and these sold out immediately every time.
Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold still available in the USA
According to the same source, sales will continue in the US, where the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold launched later than in Korea, but only “until the current production run is sold out.” Since we assume the number of units isn’t very high, if you live in the US and want a TriFold, you should buy one now before Samsung officially stops production there as well.
To say that this market launch was pretty strange would be an understatement. It almost seems as if Samsung only sold a prototype series – the small number of units available suggests this, as does the fact that production was discontinued after just three months. Hopefully, there will also be a Galaxy Z TriFold 2, produced in larger quantities and sold worldwide.
