Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold with 10-inch display and 5,600 mAh battery is here
Following numerous leaks and a prototype presentation, Samsung has officially unveiled its first tri-fold smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold is the epitome of Samsung’s expertise in foldable devices, which now extends to over 16 models. It offers the largest screen of any foldable Galaxy smartphone, along with clever software features and flagship specifications.
The most important innovations of the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold are its dual titanium hinges, which fully protect the main screen when closed. Unlike Huawei’s Mate XT and Mate XTs, the Z TriFold’s main screen is located on the back, while the two sides of the foldable display can be folded towards the center.
Speaking of the foldable display: When fully unfolded, it measures a generous 10 inches diagonally and offers a resolution of 2,160 x 1,584 pixels, an adaptive refresh rate of 1–120 Hz, and a peak brightness of 1,600 nits. There’s a small cutout on the right for the 10-megapixel selfie camera. As with the other foldable smartphones in the Z series, a screen protector is pre-installed.
The 6.5-inch external display offers a resolution of 2,520 x 1,080 pixels, an adaptive refresh rate of 1–120 Hz, and a 21:9 aspect ratio. It reaches a peak brightness of up to 2,600 nits, is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, and features a 10 MP selfie camera.
The software is based on One UI 8 and Android 16. The large screen enables clever multitasking options. You can run three apps side-by-side in portrait mode at full size. The Galaxy Z TriFold is the first Samsung smartphone with a standalone Samsung DeX interface, providing a desktop-like experience directly from the quick settings. When combined with a mouse and keyboard, the Z TriFold serves as a mobile workstation.
Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold only 3.9 mm thick
The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold boasts a slim design thanks to its Advanced Armor Aluminum frame and is only 3.9 mm thick at its thinnest point. It weighs 309 grams and measures 159.2 x 75 x 12.9 mm when folded. Like the Z Fold7 and the Z Flip7, the Z TriFold also offers IP48 dust and water resistance.
The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold is equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset, just like the Galaxy Z Fold7, which, however, is located one generation behind the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip. It also comes with 16 GB of RAM and either 512 GB or 1 TB of storage.
On the back, you’ll find the triple camera of the Galaxy Z Fold7, consisting of a 200 MP main camera (ISOCELL HP2), a 10 MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle lens.
5,600 mAh three-cell battery with 45-watt charging
Samsung has also included a 5,600 mAh three-cell battery, distributed across the three rear sections of the device. It supports 45W wired charging and 15W wireless charging.
The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold will only be available in Crafted Black. The price has not yet been announced, but it has been confirmed that buyers in South Korea will receive the device first, as it will be available starting Friday, December 12. Samsung also confirmed that availability will be expanded to China, Taiwan, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and the USA in the future.
