Oppo A6 with 7,000 mAh battery, A6s, A6i+ and A6v unveiled
Oppo already offers a large number of devices with the “A6” name, but can add more at any time – and the company has just done so, introducing four new models. First, let’s look at the Oppo A6.
Oppo A6
The new Oppo A6 (model number PLS120) is slightly smaller than the old A6. It features a 6.57-inch 1080p+ AMOLED display – a higher-quality panel than the 6.75-inch 720p+ IPS-LCD of the global version. The new display also has an in-display optical fingerprint sensor, replacing the side-mounted sensor.
The outstanding feature of both Oppo smartphones is the huge 7,000 mAh battery – this new version even supports 80 Watt SuperVOOC charging and 44 Watt PPS (compared to 45 Watt SuperVOOC and 33 Watt PPS on the global A6).
The smartphone continues to be powered by the Dimensity 6300 chipset and is available in 8/256 GB, 12/256 GB, and 12/512 GB storage configurations (LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage). A microSD card slot is included. The smartphone offers advanced water resistance, certified to IP68 and IP69 standards, just like the global A6.
The 50MP main camera and the 2MP secondary camera are identical, but the selfie camera has been upgraded to 16MP (previously 8MP). The cameras are still limited to 1080p at 60 frames per second.
Oppo A6s
Next up is the new Oppo A6s compared to the old A6s. Strangely, this model is almost the opposite of the aforementioned A6: While it uses the same 6.75-inch 720p+ LCD display as the global A6s model, the selfie camera has been reduced from 16 MP to 8 MP, and the 7,000 mAh battery charges more slowly at 45 watts SuperVOOC than the global A6s model (80 watts).
The Dimensity 6300 chipset is the same as before, but offers more generous storage configurations with 8/256 GB and 12/256 GB LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. The microSD card slot is still present.
Oppo A6i+
The Oppo A6i+ is a new combination of letters and numbers, but not a new combination of features. In fact, it’s simply the global A6 again, which, as mentioned, is identical to the new A6s. The A6s and A6i+ even share the same model number: PLT120.
Oppo A6v
Then there’s the Oppo A6v, another new letter-number combination and also a new model number: PLT130. It differs from the A6s/A6i+ by having a 5 MP selfie camera (instead of 8 MP), a smaller 6,500 mAh battery with 45-watt SuperVOOC fast charging (instead of 7,000 mAh), and a lower IP64 rating. However, it’s not a completely new model, as it’s essentially the same as the Oppo A6t.
Prices in China range from 1,200 CNY (147 €/174 USD) for the A6v with 8/256 GB to 2,100 CNY (258 €/304 USD) for the top model A6 with 12/512 GB.
