vivo V70 unveiled with a flat 6.59-inch display and 6,500 mAh battery
The new vivo V70 retains some of the best features of the vivo V60 and also offers some useful updates. It now features a flat 6.59-inch OLED display (1260 x 2750 pixels), replacing the quad-curved 6.77-inch panel of the previous model. The display is brighter, with a global peak brightness of 1800 nits and a local peak brightness of 5000 nits (compared to 1500 nits globally and 5000 nits locally). It remains a 10-bit panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate.
An important improvement of the new vivo mobile phone is the transition to an ultrasonic fingerprint reader, which is faster, more reliable and more secure than the old optical reader.
The smaller screen diagonal of the vivo V70 contributes to the smartphone’s narrower design. It now measures 74.3 mm in width, compared to 77.0 mm for the V60. It is also slightly slimmer at 7.4 mm/7.6 mm (depending on the color, compared to 7.5 mm/7.8 mm) and lighter at 187 g/194 g (compared to 192 g/201 g).
Despite its slimmer design, the vivo V70 is just as robust as the V60, if not more so. It is dustproof, waterproof, and protected against water jets according to IP68 and IP69 standards. It has also undergone drop tests from a height of 1.8 meters. The display is protected by Schott Xensation Core glass. The new model also replaces the old plastic housing with a robust Series 6 aluminum alloy frame, which has been polished multiple times to achieve the desired finish.
vivo V70 continues with Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset
The chipset is unchanged, the smartphone is powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset like its predecessor, it is configurable with 8/12 GB of RAM and 256/512 GB of storage. Connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.4, and USB 2.0.
The V70 is equipped with vivo’s semi-removable battery technology. The capacity, like its predecessor, is 6,500 mAh, which provides battery life for 11 hours of PUBG or 5 hours of 4K video recording at 60 fps (a further improvement, but more on that later). The battery withstands extreme temperatures: In the desert, it lasts 10 hours with Google Maps at 40°C, and in the Arctic, even 8 hours at -20°C. The smartphone supports 90W wired fast charging (vivo FlashCharge).
The vivo V70 features a 50MP main camera with OIS, now using the Sony LYT 700V sensor (1/1.56 inch). This is complemented by a 50MP telephoto lens (1/1.95 inch) and an 8MP ultrawide camera. As mentioned previously, the smartphone can record 4K video at 60 frames per second (compared to 30 frames per second on the V60).
The main and telephoto cameras offer five popular focal lengths for portraits: 1x/23 mm (landscape portraits), 1.5x/35 mm (street portraits), 2.2x/50 mm (classic), 3.7x/85 mm and 4.3x/100 mm (close-ups). A selection of bokeh modes in the typical ZEISS style is also available.
The smartphone is available in Authentic Black (the thin and light version) as well as Canary Yellow, Alpine Grey, and Sandalwood Brown. It ships with Android 16/OriginOS 6 and will receive six years of operating system updates and security patches (the V60 received patches for six years, but only four years of operating system updates).
The vivo V70 will soon be available in Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. vivo has not yet announced pricing.
