Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0 is here
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 was released today with the model code SM7750-AB as the successor to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 from 2023. As expected, the new 4nm chip offers significant performance improvements over its two-year-old predecessor, both in the CPU and in the GPU and NPU.
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 features an updated Kryo CPU with a 1+4+3 configuration. There’s a 2.8 GHz prime core, four 2.4 GHz performance cores, and three 1.8 GHz efficiency cores. Qualcomm promises 27% higher CPU performance than the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3.
The Adreno GPU is 30% faster than its predecessor. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 also includes select Snapdragon Elite Gaming features, including the Adaptive Performance Engine 4.0. The GPU also supports HDR10, HDR10+, HDR Vivid and HLG codecs.
The updated Hexagon NPU offers 65% higher performance in AI tasks and enables Stable Diffusion 1.5 to run directly on the host device.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 supports LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 4.0 storage
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 also supports up to LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 4.0 memory. There’s also a triple 12-bit Spectra image processor with support for up to 200 MP stills and 10-bit photos. Video recording, however, is limited to a maximum of 4K and 30 FPS.
Connectivity includes 5G (sub-6 GHz), Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 6.0. The chip also supports the aptX Lossless and aptX Adaptive audio codecs, as well as Qualcomm’s Expanded Personal Area Network (XPAN).
Honor, vivo, and Realme will introduce smartphones with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 in the coming months.
