vivo S50 and S50 Pro mini unveiled with new design and chipsets

As expected, the vivo S50 and vivo S50 Pro mini are now officially available in China as the brand’s latest mid-range smartphones. Both devices feature a redesigned look and several key technical improvements compared to their predecessors.
vivo S50


The vivo S50 features a slightly smaller 6.59-inch display than its predecessor and a more powerful Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip. The S50 Pro mini retains the compact 6.31-inch display and also receives a chip upgrade with the recently introduced Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip.


Both new S50 models feature AMOLED displays with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The displays are equipped with 50MP selfie cameras and an updated ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.
vivo S50 Pro mini


Both smartphones are IP68 and IP69 water and dust resistant and feature powerful 6,500 mAh silicon-C batteries with 90W wired charging. The S50 Pro mini also offers 40W wireless charging.

The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 The S50 offers a noticeable performance increase compared to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chip of the S30. Also the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 The S50 Pro mini is likely to be in comparison to the Dimensity 9300+ The S30 Pro mini offers more performance. Both S50 models can be configured with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512 GB of UFS 4.1 storage.


Both models in the S50 series feature a similar triple-camera setup with a 50MP main camera (IMX921), a 50MP telephoto lens (IMX882) with 3x optical zoom, and an 8MP ultrawide lens. Both models ship with OriginOS 6 based on Android 16.
Prices
The S50 is available in white, blue, purple, and black. The base version with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage starts at 2,999 CNY (362 euros/425 US dollars), while the top version with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage costs 3,599 CNY (435 euros/510 US dollars).
The S50 Pro mini is available in white, purple, and black. Prices start at 3,699 CNY (447 euros/524 US dollars) for the 12 GB storage/256 GB RAM version and go up to 4,299 CNY (519 euros/609 US dollars) for the 16 GB storage/512 GB RAM version.
Both smartphones can already be pre-ordered in vivo’s official webshop; delivery is scheduled for Friday, December 19th.
