Honor Magic8 Ultra and Honor Power 2 with giant batteries before launch
Honor introduced the Magic8 and Magic8 Pro in China earlier this month. Rumors suggest the company is also working on an Honor Magic8 Ultra, expected to be released early next year, and the Honor Power 2 with a massive battery.
Honor Magic8 Ultra: Display, Chipset, and Camera Details
Unsurprisingly, the Honor Magic8 Ultra is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. It reportedly features a quad-curved, 6.71-inch LTPO OLED display with 1.5K resolution, an integrated ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, and support for 3D facial recognition.
The Honor Magic8 Ultra’s main camera will have a 50MP resolution and utilize OmniVision’s OV50R sensor with extremely high dynamic range. The smartphone will also feature a new periscope telephoto camera, possibly with a 200MP resolution, as previously rumored.
The Honor Magic8 Ultra’s battery capacity is somewhere between 7,000 and 7,999 mAh. Further details will certainly be announced prior to the release.
Honor Power 2 certified with 10,000 mAh battery
The rumors have been confirmed: The Honor Power 2 does indeed have a 10,000 mAh battery. The device was recently certified by 3C for the Chinese market, and the corresponding listing reveals the battery’s nominal capacity of 9,886 mAh. This will undoubtedly be advertised as a typical capacity of 10,000 mAh at launch, a figure that will be perfect for any marketing campaign.
It will be the first device from an established smartphone brand to achieve a five-digit battery capacity, but Honor apparently doesn’t intend to stop there. According to Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station, the brand is indeed planning to release three different mid-range devices with extremely powerful batteries.
The Honor Power 2 will be equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 chipset, while the other two models will feature the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 and the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, respectively. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is coming soon. It’s unclear whether it will also feature 10,000 mAh batteries or other capacities. According to an earlier rumor, the Power 2 is expected to be released in the first half of 2026. It is supposedly going to have a 6.79-inch LTPS OLED display with a 1.5K resolution.
