Poco F8 Ultra gets new main camera with large aperture
The Redmi K90 Pro is expected to be unveiled in China soon, as its predecessor is now almost a year old – it launched in November 2024. Rumor has it that the K90 Pro will be renamed the Poco F8 Ultra for the international market, and some camera details for both models were revealed today.
The Redmi K90 Pro and the Poco F8 Ultra will share the same main camera with a 1/1.3-inch sensor. This is likely the exact same camera used in the recently unveiled Xiaomi 17. In this case, it is likely to have an aperture of f/1.7 and a focal length of 23 mm, along with OIS, of course.
This would be a significant upgrade over the 1/1.55-inch sensor of the Redmi K80 Pro and the Poco F7 Ultra, which lets through significantly more light. According to rumors, the sensor itself is a custom sensor from OmniVision with the Xiaomi Light Fusion branding.
Xiaomi Poco F8 Ultra with periscope telephoto camera
The telephoto camera is reportedly a periscope camera with a 1/2.76-inch sensor, possibly Samsung’s ISOCELL JN5. In this case, the K90 Pro and the Poco F8 Ultra will have a 2.5x to 3x optical zoom. Furthermore, the telephoto lens is likely to also function as a macro camera.
The ultra-wide-angle lens could use OmniVision’s OV50M sensor with a resolution of 50 MP and a size of 1/2.88 inches. This would be another significant upgrade over the last generation’s 32 MP ultra-wide-angle lens with a 1/3.42-inch sensor.
So it looks like the Redmi K90 Pro and the Poco F8 Ultra will finally focus more on camera quality. In terms of display, battery, and chipset, the Poco phones have always been at flagship-killer level.
