vivo Y500 arrives on September 1 with 8,200 mAh battery

After teasing the vivo Y500 last week, the Chinese manufacturer has now officially confirmed the launch date in China and announced key specifications for the upcoming smartphone. The Y500 appears to be a China-exclusive smartphone and is the successor to the vivo Y300.

The vivo Y500 is scheduled to launch in China on September 1st and features an 8,200 mAh battery, a significant improvement over its predecessor’s 6,000 mAh battery. vivo has also confirmed that the upcoming Y-series smartphone will offer IP69+/IP69/IP68 water resistance ratings and a five-star SGS Gold Label certification for drops and shocks.

While the company hasn’t revealed any further specifications for the phone, the official vivo China website already shows the Y500’s color options. It will be available in light blue, black, and purple.

In addition, a tipster has published the technical specifications of the smartphone on Weibo. According to reports, the vivo Y500 will feature a 6.77-inch quad-curved AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and an impressive peak brightness of 5,000 nits.

Rumors suggest it will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset and will feature a 50 MP rear camera. The phone will reportedly run Android 15-based Origin OS 5, offer an 8 MP selfie camera, and support 90W fast charging. We’re excited for the next teaser.
