Samsung Galaxy A17 chipset, design and prices revealed
At the beginning of the week, various images of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A17, along with some technical specifications, appeared online. Now the first retailer in Italy has listed the 5G and 4G versions with prices. Leaked promotional materials also revealed the chipset and design.
Samsung Galaxy A17 with Exynos 1330 chipset
The images of the Samsung Galaxy A17 appear to be promotional material. The chipset is clearly indicated on them – a Samsung Exynos 1330 and not the more powerful 1380 as previously known. It also comes with 128 GB of storage and 4, 6, or 8 GB of RAM. There’s also a 256 GB model with 8 GB of RAM, and MicroSD cards up to 2 TB are supported. The smartphone measures 164.4 x 77.9 x 7.5 mm and weighs 192 g.
The Samsung Galaxy A17 features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with 1,080 x 2,340 pixels, a waterdrop notch, a 90 Hz refresh rate, 1,100 nits peak brightness, and Gorilla Glass Victus. It features a triple rear camera setup: a 50 MP main camera with OIS, a 5 MP ultrawide lens, and a 2 MP macro lens, as well as a 13 MP selfie camera on the front. Samsung’s typical 5,000 mAh battery with 25W wired charging is also on board, reaching 50% in 30 minutes.
The Samsung Galaxy A17 is IP54 certified, making it dust and splash-proof. It also promises six major Android updates and six years of security patches. However, the Samsung phone will still be launched with Android 15, so the first of these six updates will be Android 16. The back is made of glass-fiber-reinforced polymer, which is advertised as more robust than the plastic of the Galaxy A16 5G.
The package includes a 25W charger, a USB Type-C cable, a SIM ejection tool, and a quick start guide. The charger may vary depending on the market. Color options are blue, black, and gray.
Samsung Galaxy A17 4G and A17 5G: Prices for Europe
The Samsung Galaxy A17 4G and A17 5G have also already been listed by the first retailer in Europe. The listings don’t include images, but they do reveal the prices for the 4G and 5G models, as well as some of their color variants. The Galaxy A17 4G costs €289.90 with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage and is available in black, gray, and light blue. By the way, there should also be cheaper models with less RAM and storage.
The Galaxy A17 5G costs € 319.90 with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB of memory and is available in black, blue and gray. However, these are not complete lists, since there will most likely be other RAM/memory combinations. Other colors are also likely.
Compared to the Galaxy A16 5G, the Galaxy A17 5G is thinner and lighter, and the design of the camera island has also been changed: It is now oval, whereas the predecessor’s cameras were arranged in individual rings. Unfortunately, according to the images, the notch remains.
