Galaxy Watch5 and Watch5 Pro get One UI 8 Watch and Gemini
The latest smartwatches from South Korea, the Samsung Galaxy Watch8 and Galaxy Watch8 Classic, already run One UI 8. However, several older Galaxy Watches will receive the update in the coming months, including the Samsung Galaxy Watch5 and Galaxy Watch5 Pro. And apparently, Google’s AI assistant Gemini is also on board.
Samsung Galaxy Watch5 and Watch5 Pro get One UI 8 Watch
The list of Galaxy Watches eligible for the One UI 8 Watch upgrade also includes the Samsung Galaxy Watch5 and the Watch5 Pro. Samsung has begun testing the One UI 8 Watch beta versions for these watches, bringing it one step closer to release.
The One UI 8 Watch beta firmwares for the Galaxy Watch5 and Galaxy Watch5 Pro discovered on Samsung’s servers have Firmware versions R905NK0U1CYCD and R925NK0U1CYCD, respectively. The updates are intended for the South Korean models of both smartwatches. The source who discovered them also claims that the One UI 8 Watch Beta program for these two models will only be available in the US and South Korea.
It is unclear when the beta and stable versions of One UI 8 Watch will be released for the Watch5 and Watch5 Pro. will be.
Google Gemini is coming to Samsung’s older Galaxy Watches
As promised earlier this year, Google’s Gemini AI is now available on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic and is now being expanded to some older Galaxy Watch models.
Gemini AI was introduced on WearOS for the first time with the new Watch8 series models. Google has promised to expand the technology to other smartwatches running Wear OS 4 or later. The only catch with Samsung watches: You need a Galaxy Watch with the latest One UI 8 interface and Wear OS. The first part of this article is essentially a prerequisite for the second part.
As SamMobile reports, the Gemini AI app is already available for download for older Galaxy Watches. However, it doesn’t appear to replace the older Google Assistant on devices with versions prior to One UI 8, at least not for now.
Samsung has already released the beta version of One UI 8 for the Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro. Therefore, the Galaxy Watch6, Watch6 Classic, and the Galaxy Watch7 should also be updated soon.
